Who I am

Hi, I’m Ryogen — welcome to my corner of the internet.

I’m a Japanese, born to, and raised by Japanese parents, though my name and looks often have people second guessing.

My love for travel comes from my parents, who took me to different corners of the world from a young age. They always looked outward, sending me to summer schools in Canada and New Zealand. By the time I finished elementary school in Japan, I was off to live with a homestay family in New Zealand, attending middle school there.

Many people ask if I was scared even to this day, but at 12, the only thing I was excited about was flying alone for the first time (no longer as an unaccompanied minor!).

For high school, I moved to Canada, where I stayed until completing university. Physics was the only subject I both excelled at and truly enjoyed, so combined with my love for planes, Aerospace Engineering felt like the only choice for me.

During one summer back in Japan, I visited Fuji Speedway for the first time, and that changed everything. After graduation, I returned to Japan, knocked on the doors of racing teams, and eventually joined one as an assistant data engineer.

Fast-forward four years, I became an experienced motorsport engineer, contributing to multiple race wins. Motorsport was exhilarating, full of passion, pressure, and long hours. The pay was low, but the winning sensation was like no other. Still, I felt I was missing the business skills to complement my technical background.

That’s when I decided to step away from full-time motorsport. I still visit circuits and follow races closely, but I shifted my focus to building a career where engineering, data, and strategy intersect. (For the rest of my career journey, you can follow or connect with me on LinkedIn)

Outside of work, I’m usually on the move. I’m an avid traveler and aviation enthusiast, fascinated by how airlines, airports, and global mobility systems connect the world. I love planning trips, exploring cities, and writing about experiences that blend culture with thoughtful logistics.

This site is where those threads come together. Aviation, global travel, motorsport, and beyond, all shaped by my own experiences and insights.

If you’re looking for someone to collaborate with, whether in aviation, travel, motorsport, experiential marketing, or something completely new, I’d love to connect.
